The participants are Shirley Clarke, filmmaker; Louise Nevelson, sculptor; Rosalyn Drexler, playwright; and Vivian Gornick, writer and moderator of the discussion. Recorded at the Women's InterArt Center in New York City.

The New World Consort, a Canadian ensemble specializing in early music, performs a set of Renaissance, Medieval, and Elizabethan songs and dances at WBAI's Free Music Store on February 23, 1972.

Mother Mallard's portable masterpiece company (Episode 9 of 33)

Mother Mallard's Portable Masterpiece Company performs live at WBAI's Free Music Store on January 22, 1972. The group, comprising David Borden, Steve Drews and Linda Fisher, is considered the world's first synthesizer ensemble. They perform with five Moog synthesizers, an RMI electric piano and cartoons. Produced and presented in stereo by WBAI's Music Department with thanks to Steve Rathe.

Ars Cameralis ensemble (Episode 18 of 33)

The Ars Cameralis Ensemble performs at WBAI's Free Music Store on February 16, 1972. The ensemble consists of Edith Kraft, piano; Carol Wincenc, flute; Joel Marangella, oboe; George Hirner, clarinet; Lauren Goldstein, bassoon; and Joseph Anderer, French horn. WBAI's Barbara Oka introduces the progam.

Naná (Episode 15 of 33)

Performance by Brazilian composer and percussionist Naná Vasconcelos (1944-) playing the berimbau, an instrument of African origin, for WBAI's Free Music Store in 1972. In addition to leading his own bands, Vasconcelos has played with Jon Hassell, Pat Metheny, Jan Garbarek, Don Cherry, and Egberto Gismonti, among others. Naná is introduced by WBAI's Barbara Oka.

The Negro woman in American literature (Episode 2 of 12)

This program from the "Negro Writer's Vision of America" conference held April 23-25, 1965 at New York’s New School is a discussion of the Negro woman in America and in American literature. Participants are poet Sarah Wright, playwright Alice Childress, singer and actress Abbey Lincoln, novelist Paule Marshall and poet Sterling A. Brown.

Timothy Leary in Algiers

Dr. Timothy Leary calls into WBAI-FM from La Madrague, Algeria, where he was living in exile with his wife Rosemary Leary in 1970. He acknowledges that his escape from prison and the United States was organized by the Weather Underground and that he is now hiding in Algiers thanks to the assistance of Eldridge Cleaver and the Black Panthers.
