Documentary on the trial and verdict of the two surviving Soledad brothers. John Clutchette and Fleeta Drumgo, the two surviving Soledad Brothers (George Jackson was killed at San Quentin in August, 1971), were found not guilty on March 27, 1972. Clutchette and Drumgo were on trial for an assault and murder of a Soledad prison guard. The program includes a retrospective documentary of the trial, the circumstances behind the trial, and the political implications for all concerned. The piece opens with a quote from Judge S. Lee Vavuris, who proceeded over the trial, and comments from juror John Callahan, defense attorneys Floyd Silliman and Richard Silver, Berkeley attorney Elaine Wender, Clutchette's mother Doris Maxwell, Drumgo's mother Inez Williams, Superintendent of Soledad Prison CJ Fitzharris, public defender Phrasel Shelton.
