Highlander Folk School, founded in 1932, began as an educational resource for adults fighting unemployment and anti-union movements, and quickly became committed to ending segregation. Through a number of rich anecdotes, Myles Horton, one of the founders of the Highlander Folk School, indicates the basic role the school plays in the civil rights movement in the South.
