Ann Darr has lived in Iowa, where she was born and went to college, to New York City, where she worked as a scriptwriter for radio, and then enlisted in the Women's Airforce Service Pilots during WWII, where she served as a military pilot. In 1970 she won the Discovery Award from the New York Poetry Center.
