AMERICA'S AVERSION TO DEMOCRACY / Noam Chomsky. - Speech by Noam Chomsky, noted linguist and scholar of international affairs in which he explores both domestic and foreign affairs issues to demonstrate the importance of corporate interests in United States policy decisions. Since the Monroe Doctrine, the United States has sought to dominate the Western Hemisphere. With the Gulf War, that Doctrine has been expanded to include the Middle East, with Europe accepting this new role for the United States. The concerns of private corporate interests, supported by both overt and covert actions, have come to be the only concern of the Federal Government. The end result is a nation which has supported some of the worlds worst atrocities, from the death squads in Brazil to the dwoning of an Indian commercial airliner.
