What makes this company unique is that it is the only African-American controlled business in the United States. Mr. Mallard tells how he got the company started amid discrimination and other man-made obstacles. Mr. Mallard, a product of the Civil Rights Movement in Alabama, speaks out on how the movement molded him and his desire to build his business. Other topics discussed include: NAFTA, the need to acquire a good education, the role of his wife, and the role of the African American church in the community. #7. A closer look at the Blues. The guest is blues guitarist, Etta Baker. This is an entertaining look at one of the industry's classic blues performers, Etta Baker. Ms. Baker speaks about her life and growing up in rural West Virginia. Various musical selections are mixed in throughout the program.
