Owner Moe Moskowitz of Moe's Books, a second-hand bookstore in Berkeley, discusses running a small business near a radical university. He is one of Berkeley's best known merchants and keen observer of campus radical life from his viewpoint (and storefront) on Telegraph Avenue, just a few doors south of Fred Cody's bookstore, and the center of the Free Speech Movement. Moskowitz conducts a thriving business in used books and records and in this interview with Byron Bryant of KPFA, he talks about the trials and tribulations of his chosen career. He speaks about the difficultly in attaining a permit and other challenges he faced as a store owner. In addition, he talks about his trading policies, his clientele, the organization of the books, and the community policy's discrimination against secondhand stores. Moskowitz was born in 1921 in New York and died in 1996. KPFA, 30 Dec. 1967
