In the fall of 1977, two leading opponents of Marcos escaped from a prison in Manila and came to the United States. Just a few weeks after their escape, Sergio Osmena and Eugenio Lopez spoke with Modesto Fernandez and Alan Snitow of KPFA news in Berkeley. The interview took place shortly before the much publicized death sentences handed down to several other Marcos opponents, including former Senator Benigno Acquino, who is mentioned in the interview.
