An hour of music and talk with the The Red Star Singers, one of the San Francisco Bay Area's best political/anti-war music groups of the early 1970s. Music includes some songs not released widely by the group, and therefore, rarely heard outside the bay area. The members include Gary Lapow, Bonnie Lockhart, Mike Margulis, and Ron Rosenbaum. Lapow speaks about their music, process of creation, and the environment that inspired them. The some of the songs played throughout the recording include "Force of Life", "Pig Nixon", "Belly of the Monster", and "Women's Health Song".<br><br>Description on box: Produced for KPFA by Ed Schoenfeld of Eastbay People's Music. Funded by a grant from the California Arts Council. A songbook titled "Sing About It" was also produced with the program, and includes several of the songs on the tape. It can be ordered for $1 from Easbay People's Music, P.O. Box 214, Berkeley CA 94701.<br><br>Recorded at the home of singer Gary Lapow.
