On May 4, 1968, nine Bay Area legal organizations sponsored a conference on "Racism in the law" held at the Sheraton-Palace Hotel in San Francisco. This is the second of five recordings from that conference. The first part features Jerome Carlin, director of the San Francisco Neighborhood Legal Assistance Foundation, and Preble Stoltz discussing "Recruitment into the Bar." This is followed by a discussion of "Racism in the courtroom" with Edward A. Dawley, member of the California and Virginia bars, serving as moderator. The panel consists of attorney Clinton W. White and former District Attorney Eugene Swann. James Herndon opens the program.
