Meredith Monk is an American composer, singer, director and choreographer who is a pioneer in what is now called interdisciplinary performance. The theater piece Quarry was first performed at the off-Broadway theater, La MaMa, in New York.

David Rothenberg interviews Harvey Fierstein who is an actor and playwright. He is a Tony-award winning author of and actor in "Torch Song Trilogy". Fierstein talks about his background in theater and writing. His first performance was in New York's off-broadway theater La MaMa which was in Andy Warhol's play, Pork. Fierstein is also a gay civil rights activist.

Merkel is best known for her roles in the films Destry Rides Again (1939), The Bank Dick (1940), and Summer and Smoke (1961), for which she was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. They discuss her long film and stage career.
