Talk by Greg Sarris, a members of the Pomo and Miwok tribes, who outlines the history of the Northern California Kashaya Pomo and Coastal Miwok from Spanish contact to the present. Sarris establishes the two pre-contact tribal distributions, contact with Spanish, Russian, English and American traders and explorers, and the domination by the United States since 1848. Sarris goes on to compare the various historical accounts, both Euramerican and Amerindian, and how elders have continued to pass on traditional learning to the present. He concludes with a statistical description of the tribes today. Ends with a question and answer session.|LIVING WITH MIRACLES : CALIFORNIA INDIAN RESISTANCE AND REORGANIZATION / Greg Sarris / produced by Whiteskunk Productions. - SERIES: The Columbus paradox| no. 1 - Talk by Greg Sarris, a members of the Pomo and Miwok tribes, who outlines the history of the Northern California Kashaya Pomo and Coastal Miwok from Spanish contact to the present.
