We find ourselves discussing science and religion on this episode of From the Vault, as we present two historic 1959 recordings on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the publication of Charles Darwin’s seminal work on evolution, The Origin of Species. Our first recording is of Sir Julian Huxley, who gave this Darwin Centennial address at the Monterrey Peninsula College on December 18th, 1959. This is followed by a recording of Julian’s famous brother, Aldous Huxley, moderating a Darwin Centennial panel on the impact of Darwin’s theories in the modern world in October 1959. The panel includes Dr. George Beadle, Garrett Hardin, and James Walter.
From the Vault is presented as part of the Pacifica Radio Archives Preservation and Access Project.
