Hidden Belief Systems / Alan Watts. Talk with question and answer session about how humanity creates the universe through language. CONTENT: We constantly interpret the world into language, but the world is not necessarily the same as the description. Each event has a multitude of viewpoints. Even our view of self reflects descriptions which deny that we are basically feeling-thinking beings. But not all languages are constructed the same way. Nootka, a Pacific Northwest language, does not differentiate between noun and verb--thus linking cause and effect into the same word. He concludes by suggesting we all need to become children again, to touch, feel and smell the world without classifying it.
