The first part of an evening devoted to performance of works by Igor Stravinsky (1882-1971) held at WBAI's Free Music Store on December 18, 1971 (cf. PRA# BC0709.06 for part two). WBAI'S Barbara Oka opens the evening and introduces Eric Salzman, who delivers some historical background about Stravinsky. The ensemble includes Henry Schuman, conductor; Margaret Schecter, flute; Saul Gallo, clarinet; Charles Nussbaum, bassoon; Lauren Goldstein, bassoon; James Stubbs, trumpet; Tom Lisenbee, trumpet; Porter Poindexter, trombone; Lawrence Benz, trombone; Irene Gubrud, soprano; Stanley King, English horn; Stephen Hartman, clarinet; Jeanne Benjamin, violin.
