Actuality recorded at the sit-in at U.C. Berkeley's Sproul Hall, December 4, 1964 at approximately 3:00AM. Track 2, someone announces that "there's a possibility that the police might use tear gas...tear gas CAN NOT kill you." Later it is announced "If you're on probation, under 18 years of age, or not a citizen of the United States, that you strongly consider leaving...you're going to give our lawyers a hell of a time." Protesters sing "We shall overcome." Announcement by Dr. Everett Strong, chancellor of the UC Berkeley campus, "I request that each of you cease your participation in this unlawful assembly...Failure to disperse will result in disciplinary action by the University. Please leave. " Lt. M.F. Chandler of the U.C. Police Department "...This assemblage is now in violation of the laws of the state of California...The assemblage has become illegal...You will have five minutes to leave the building." Sit-in participants respond by singing "We Shall Not Be Moved." Participant reports that the police have not made any advancements, then later that they are on the third floor. More singing "Oh Freedom."
