Documentary based upon interviews with several Blenmary Sister, Anne Leibig, Monica Appleby, Katherine Rumaschlag, and Cathy Hutson, along with sociologist Helen Lewis and feminist theologian Elizabeth Bounds. The program traces the experiences of a group of former Glenmary Sisters who established Catholic missions in the Appalacian mountains during the 1960's. They ended up splitting with the Church over issues of support for rural people's rights and the role of women in the church. They remained in the region even after giving up their vows, and have helped start health clinics, cooperative, land trusts, and homeless shelters.|CHANGING HABITS : CATHOLIC SISTERS AND SOCIAL CHANGE IN APPALACHIA / produced by Rachel Anne Goodman. - Documentary based upon interviews with several Blenmary Sister, Anne Leibig, Monica Appleby, Katherine Rumaschlag, and Cathy Hutson, along with sociologist Helen Lewis and feminist theologian Elizabeth Bounds.
