This original 2-hour Pacifica Radio Archives production, celebrates the life of music legend and folk hero, Pete Seeger on the occasion of his 88th birthday. Historic live performances, actuality and interviews from the Pacifica Radio Archives historic collection are used to document the life of one of the most influential artists of the 20th and 21st Centuries. Featured is an intimate conversation between Academy Award winning actor and director Tim Robbins and Pete Seeger recorded in July 2006 at Pete\'s log home.

Part 1 (59:00): The first hour of the program that looks at Pete Seeger\'s life from 1938 through 1952. Includes his travels and personal development with Woody Guthrie and Leadbelly, the Almanac Singers, Seeger\'s work with the Labor and Peace Movements, His fight against Facism, The creation of People\'s Songs Incorporated and his work with The Weavers. Part 2 (59:00): 1952-present. The second hour continues to follows Pete\'s journey exploring the rich American folk music tradition. Fine examples on how regular people set a real life experience to a catchy tune to make a timeless work of art that inspired a whole generation of artists like Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Peter Paul and Mary and the Byrds. You\'ll hear about his epic battle with HUAC, his anti-war stance in Vietnam, and his work in the environmental movement. Each Hour is woven together with live music and interviews from Pete from over 40 years of recordings contained in the Pacifica Radio Archives.
