Don't look for me in the picture show

Produced by Ohio State Award-winner Beverly Hickman, art historian Elizabeth Kahn, and Ellen Rocco, "Don't Look for Me in the Picture Show" is about Vietnam: art, reconciliation and the next generation. It was produced to illuminate the issues that remain significant in our memory of Vietnam and the role of art in the uncovering of history. "Don't Look for Me in the Picture Show" has no stars, though many of the participants are well known -- like Robert Bly, W.D. Erhart, Carl Oglesby, Diane Carlson Evans; it has no instructive paths, though the voices are clear in addressing the issues; and it has no familiar music from the late Sixties, though a rhythm of creativity and commitment clearly emerges. Jackson Day's poem of the same title was chosen as the "theme music" for the program because of it's warning: there is no one picture, no quintessential image of the Vietnam era. Like the War, this program is strong, moving, and sometimes disturbing - with no single view, no simple narrative.
