Description:

Mumia Abu-Jamal's Monthly Commentary; 40th Anniversary of the Cuban Revolution

Mumia Abu-Jamal's Monthly Commentary Written by Abu-Jamal but read by Adrienne Rich since Pennsylvania prison officials have banned Mumia from recording commentaries for broadcast. 40th Anniversary of the Cuban Revolution It was forty years ago today that the U.S.-backed dictator Fulgencio Batista was forced to flee Cuba as the rebel army led by Fdel Castro came to power. Today on Democracy Now, we present an interview conducted last year with Cuban architect Miguel Coyula of the Group for the Integral Development of the City Havana. He takes us on a walking tour of the city. First, we begin with the Annual New year's Message of the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party, broadcast every New Year's eve at midnight to commemorate the triumph of the revolution.
