The search of KPFK by the Los Angeles police department
PRA Archive #:
BC2015
Description:

The New World Liberation Front was a radical urban guerrilla collective known for a series of bombings they carried out throughout California in the wake of the Symbionese Liberation Army's actions. In a communique mailed to Los Angeles' Pacifica station KPFK, the NWLF took credit for the bombing of the ITT Sheraton Hotel in Los Angeles in retaliation for ITT's reign of terror in Chile. On October 10, 1974, the LAPD raided KPFK in search of the communique in what is believed to be an unprecedented action by a police department towards an American media outlet. This recording is a distillation of five hours of live coverage of the search by the Los Angeles police department in search of the original communique from the New World Liberation Front on October 10, 1974.
