Set at a radio station interview in the 1960's during a promotional tour, a disc jockey coaxes her life story from her. Through flashbacks, the audience visits St. Louis slums of a young Joephine, racism, the Paris Folies Bergere, and her triumphs which made her one of the richest black women in the world.
