Trumka is a third generation miner. At age 33, he was elected president of the United Mineworkers of America. Trumka describes the current revitalization of the U.S. labor movement. He asserts the labor movement is about the "real America" and quotes Harvey Milk, who said that "labor and civil rights are really the same thing."
