Talk which uses insights from the Clarence Thomas confirmation hearings to point to the similarities between the Republican and Democratic parties, pointing out that "liberal" Democrates are conservative, and that reactionary Republicans (such as Bush, Hatch, and Dornan) are not normal conservatives. The real political alternative, he argues, is the united Black/feminist/progressive coalition which was organized during the 1960's. Problems of race, gender, and political corruption will not be addressed within the existing two party system, as the confirmation hearings demonstrated. When Professor Anita Hill, a black woman, brought charges of sexual harassment against Thomas, the Senators demonstrated their limited understanding of issues of race and gender, as well as the dominance of power politics in a situation which required moral judgement.
