Documentary on the history of the Navajo from Spanish contact to current U.S. policies.|THE TEARS OF THE NAVAJO / John Abalone Walsh - This Waziya Production traces the history of land struggle between the U.S. government and the Dineh (misnamed Navajo by the Spanish). From their forced relocation in 1864 to the Treaty of 1868 when they regained some of their homeland, from the redistricting of their land to the enforced cutbacks of their livestock and crop yield, the Dineh have signed treaties which have been consistantly violated by the U.S. government. The Dineh tried to cope with a legal system they do not understand. Now more than six thousand Dineh are again facing relocation| President Carter signed Public Law 93531 in violation of the Treaty of 1868, according to the Dineh. Lots of actuality and interludes of Native American Chanting. -
