A performance of Orazio Vecchi’s late 16th-century madrigal opera L’Amfiparnaso (1597) by a cappella vocal ensemble The Western Wind. This recording opens with an announcement of upcoming Free Music Store performances. Eric Salzman introduces the second part of the program. Cast includes Janet Steele and Janet Sullivan, sopranos; William Zukof, counter-tenor; William Lyon Lee, tenor; Elliot Levine; bass. Produced and recorded during a live Free Music Store broadcast on November 11, 1971, by WBAI’s Music Department.
This recording was formerly cataloged as BC0709.12B. Sound cuts out of left channel in the last twenty seconds of tape.
