Dr. Roberta Fernandez's book of short stories, "Intaglio" was published in 1990. An assistant professor Hispanic and Classical Languages at the University of Houston, she is formerly an affiliated scholar at the UCLA Center for the Study of Women. Dr. Andre de Korvin, the author of "The Four Hard Edges of War," was born in Berlin, Germany.

Joanie Whitebird, a native Texan, is associate editor of Wings Press, and has published several book of poetry and fiction, including "Heat and Other Stores," "Naked," and "Bootstrap Chronicles." She discusses writing with her friend, Michale Sofranko. Sofranko is the Administrative Coordinator for PEN Southwest.

Black Americans need a domestic desert storm / William Gibson.

Talk by Dr. William Gibson in which he points to the reality of African-Americans going to fight in the Desert Storm operation, only to come home to a country where they are denied political and social rights. Gibson begins by comparing the war fervor of the Persian Gulf to that of World War I, including the disappointment of African-American sliders upon their return from combat.

Speech-sermon by actress-activist Cheryl Lee Ralph to the youth delegation of the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) to take steps to insure their future.
