State University of New York Stony Brook Professor Dr. William Arens talks about his "Natural History" magazine article called "The Rite of Football," an anthropological piece in which U.S. football and its followers are seen to share characteristics with primitive religions: violence, sexual exhibitionism, submersion of the individual to the mob.

Women and breast cancer / Rose Kushner ; interviewed by Kathy McAnally.

Kathy McAnally talks with Rose Kushner, author of Breast Cancer, A Personal History and an Investigative Report (New York: Harcourt, Brace and Jovanovich, 1975). Kushner discusses breast cancer as it affects women's relationships with men, her own personal experience with breast cancer, and the general lack of literature on the subject.

"The Harder They Come": Jimmy Cliff

"The Harder They Come" is a criminal film produced by Perry Henzell, starring Jimmy Cliff and was filmed in Jamaica in 1972. The film tends to defy classification and provides insights to the black Jamaica, not tourist Jamaica. The main character, Ivan, goes to Kingston to find fame, but finds himself in difficult situations.

Poet Maya Angelou (1928 - 2014) reads and sings passages from her two autobiographies, I know why the caged bird sings and Gather together in my name, and poetry from her two collections Just give me a good drink of water 'fore I die and Oh pray my wings are gonna fit me well. She also discusses what writing means to her and the effect that her art has had on her life.

The woman who could read the minds of dogs
