Francisco Cali, co-founder of the Highland Peasant Committee (CCDA) discusses the increased repression of the 1990’s in Guatemala. Because of government pressure, the peasants grow non-traditional export crops instead of food, so that the country has to import corn and beans. As a result, 90% of the population lives in poverty. He calls for help from the international community to end the United States support of the Guatemalan military government, as well as repression of the people by the government.
