Talk by Terrence McKenna which advances the theories of his book “Food of the Gods: The Search for the Original Tree of Knowledge.” He argues that we need to reintroduce psychedelic experience into contemporary culture in light of anthropological evidence which suggests a long relationship between psychedelics and religion. He traces some of the historical uses of psychedelics in ritual and its effects upon human behavior. He contrasts psycedelics with addictive drugs, and argues for its role in consciousness raising.
