An oral history on the Works Progress Administration Writers’ Project.|THE W.P.A. WRITERS’ PROJECT: A RADIO HISTORY / Peggy Farber – In the 1930’s when the United States was in a deep depression, the Federal government gave life to a project that employed thousands of writers, artists, musicians, and theater in its national jobs program. This program is about part of that program, the Federal Writers’ Project. As part of that work, volumes of folklore, narratives, oral histories, and tall tales were collected. This program contains remembrances of some of the people in the project as well as readings from some of the material. Production assistance by Erica Schwartz. – Produced for WBAI in New York, 1976.
