Alice Walker is primarily known as a novelist and short story writer, and is a major figure in both Black American and Feminist literature. In this program we hear Walker read two stories from her new book “You Can’t Keep A Good Woman Down,”– “Fame” and “The Abortion.” The reading is mixed with her talking about some of her characters, why she incorporates history and politics into her work, her favorite writers, her own creative struggle, and what she’s working on now.
Karla Tonella conducted the interview and reads two more of her works: “A Letter of the Times” and “Coming Apart.”
Mixed with music. Produced by Karla Tonella. (Part 2 of 2)
