Barry Boys and Yevgeny Yevtushenko read Yevtushenko’s poems at Wheeler Auditorium at University of California, Berkeley. The poems are read first in English by Boys, then performed in Russian by Yevtushenko. The English translations are from Geoffrey Dutton’s Doubleday Anchor book and from George Reavey’s October House publication. Poems read on Reel A are “People”, “Babi Yar”, “Sleep, My Beloved,” “Picture of Childhood,” “Simbirsk Fair.” Reel B contains “Impressions of Western Cinema,” “Coliseum,” “The City of Yes and the City of No.” At the end, Yevtushenko gives an animated speech, which is translated. Closing poem is “Hail in Kharkov.”
