Recordings from a music festival held in the Congo Square area of New Orleans, featuring music by Black performers which reflect the spiritual and cultural origins. This program first looks at The White Eagles, a famed Mardi Gras Indian group performing four traditional songs: Downtown, Mardi Gras Morning, Liza Jane, and Indian Red. Secondly, the program looks at The Willie Colon Orchestra, a premiere salsa band which performs: Gantro Cubano and Panama.
