Audio file QC (Pass One) notes:
Recording seems to have slight, high frequency distortion – on original recording. Distortion, flutter, hum, hiss, print-through. Sound drops out from 17:15-17:26. Lots of sound clips, so audio quality is variable.
Content: Opens with woman singing a song "Sweet sweetest love". Host states that "masturbation is an area of woman's concern that is being treated much the same way as other issues in the feminist movement were treated a few years ago. Masturbation, aside from its physical feelings, is also a necessary political step to be taken in the constant upsurge of the women's revolution. It is one of the steps we must take to free ourselves of a male-dominated society." She also mentions that it is their first program, but not what series. Contains conversations, interviews, readings, and songs. "This has been a production of the WBAI Women's Radio Workshop, a media collective, open to all women interested in any aspect of radio programming for and by women." This program was produced by Linda Cohen, Dorothy Engleman, Irene Schram, and Ellen Turner. Also includes a plea for listeners to write the radio station in support. Songs were "Conjugations of gravity" by Alex Dobkin; "Big orgasm" by Women Like Me; "The clitoris song" by Dorothy Engleman; and "Masturbation rock" by Six Women Together. Poetry by Civ Wyderberg, Ellen Turner, Anne Sexton, Alta, Marilyn Hadfield, Palomina, and Jane Cornbluth. Excerpts from novels by Margarita Caripanu, translated by N. C. Germanicus; Marilyn Coffey; Erica Jong; Susan Yankowitz; and Irene Schram. Women speaking on their experiences were Margot Adler, Dell Williams, Irene Schram, Marge Helenscheild, Julie Dobkin, Sherry Thaler, and Ellen Turner.
