Description: 

An evening of country fiddling and grassroots music at WBAI's Free Music Store, broadcast live on March 11, 1972. Produced and emceed by Tom Whitmore and recorded in stereo by WBAI's Music Department. WBAI's Barbara Oka introduces the evening. The Apple Country String Band (Mark Rickart, Kenny Kosek, Roger Mason, Dave Snell, Bud Morrisroe, Phil Rosenthal) perform Love and wealth by Flatt & Scruggs, Fox on the run by Manfred Mann, I'm going back to Birmingham by Flatt & Scruggs, and Black mountain rag. Kenny Kosek and his group (Dave [unintelligible], guitar; Roger Mason, bass; Richard Crooks, drums) perform a Swedish fiddle song, Georgia railroad, Over the waterfall, and Walking in my sleep (with Dave Kiphuth on banjo). Bill Garbus and Allan Block, both on fiddle, perform Too young to marry, The boys of Oak Hill, Grub springs, Job of journey-work, Drowsy Maggie, and Chief O'Neill's favourite.
