Description:
May Day And The American Labor Movement With Sabina Virgo. Vietnamese workers call for the end to the war in Saigon, 1966; Ex-Congresswoman Bella Abzug rocks the No Nukes Rally in 1979; and a 1971 May Day rally in support of the Black Panther Nine. The American labor movement is explored through clips from a 1979 documentary focussing on such extraordinary women as Mother Jones and Emma Goldman; a 1964 documentary on the 1934 San Francisco waterfront and general strike; and finally a 1980 interview with Crystal Lee Sutton, the real Norma Rae. Produced by Brian DeShazor and Mark Torres.
