Description:
Speeches by H. Rap Brown (Jamil Al-Amin) and Stokely Carmichael in support of and in honor of the birthday of Huey P. Newton, who was incarcerated at the time. Both speakers are introduced by Eldridge Cleaver at this Free Huey rally held at the Oakland Auditorium in Oakland, California on Newton's birthday, February 17, 1968. This is the KPFK dub of Archive #BB1708, which originally aired on KPFA. This recording was incorrectly previously documented as being recorded at the Los Angeles Sports Arena on February 21, 1968. The Free Huey rally held on February 18, 1968 at the Los Angeles Sports Arena can be heard on recordings #BB4525A and #BB4525B. The speeches are the same, but delivered differently.
