Description:
Farika Birhan, public relations officer for the Accompang Maroons in Jamaica, presents a history of the Maroons. Their communities of runaway slaves fought the British for 83 years and finally signed a peace treaty in 1738. Cudjo, one the their major leaders, never lost a battle in 50 years. Fraika also talks about a female Maroon leader, Nanny.
