Pacifica’s largest grant preservation project “American Women Making History and Culture: 1963-1982”, awarded from the National Historical Publications and Records Commission Grant launched October 1 and is underway! Our first batch of 450 tapes to be digitized and preserved were recently pulled from their shelves and moved to the processing area in our climate-controlled vault. The box labels will be scanned, descriptions will be updated, and tape conditions assessed before being shipped to our digitization guru George Blood, LP in Philadelphia, PA.
Here is a photo of the list of our first batch of recordings (from KPFA Berkeley, CA) and the markers to be placed on the shelves in their place.
And below you can see our vault shelves before and after tapes were pulled and markers set it. You can see what a large percent of our shelves are included in this important project!
