Dr. Helen Caldicott, founder and president of the Nuclear Policy Research Institute, has devoted 35 years of her life to an international campaign to educate the public about the medical hazards of the nuclear age and the changes in human behavior necessary to stop environmental destruction.

She was the founding president of Physicians for Social Responsibility (PSR) from 1978 through 1983. PSR was the co-winner of the 1985 Nobel Peace Prize. Dr. Linus Pauling individually nominated Dr. Caldicott for the prize. Dr. Caldicott also founded Women's Action for Nuclear Disarmament (WAND).

She is the author of numerous books exploring nuclear and environmental issues, the most recent of which is entitled The New Nuclear Danger: George W. Bush's Military-Industrial Complex.
