Impeachment Alert Special Edition: Conversations With the President (Series Record)

Program Title:
Impeachment Alert Special Edition: Conversations With the President (Series Record)
PRA Archive #:
KZ3786
Description:

Series record for "Impeachment Alert Special Edition. Conversations with the President, live dramatic readings of the Nixon / Watergate transcripts as released by the President." This series has been previously referred to as the "White House tapes" and the "Nixon tapes". According to our best records, these recordings were made 5/17/74, 5/21/74 and 5/23/74, but there is not indication of which days these were broadcast. We have used the recording date as the broadcast date for these items although that date is not confirmed. Most of the recordings had labels or writing on them referring to an Appendix number, which seems to reflect a portion of the transcripts, but we have not found whether the numbering system was created on KPFK's end or if they adopted it from wherever they obtained the transcripts. There are 49 transcripts in all, ending with President Nixon's speech on <<<???1973>>>. Many other recordings have been created using these readings. They have been edited and re-cataloged with different titles and include: <<<>>>>. This series itself had been previously cataloged with different numbers, but has finally been put into order by Appendix number (1-49), and all 27 of the episodes are found under the archive number KZ3786. Most of these were digitally preserved under a grant from the Grammy Foundation in 2007. More information about that grant project can be found here <<<>>>.
