Description:

Interview with Glenn Gould, pianist and composer. Gould begins by discussing the components of the image of the musician versus the impact of selling records. He debates the positive and the negative of his recording, Goldberg Variations. Gould explains how he began to study Goldberg in his teens and his interpretation has changed very little. Gould lists his influences and the lack of unity between pianists in the 18th century. There is a technical discussion between Gould and the interviewer about the cadence of canons, tonal thinking, harmonic foundations and romantic harmonic language.
