Description:

Actuality of Wright's acceptance of the American Institute of Architects' gold medal.|FRANK LLOYD WRIGHT CENTENNIAL - VI: WRIGHT ON WRIGHT During his lifetime, Wright was granted virtually every official honor available to an architect, yet he never joined the leading professional organization in this country, the American Institute of Architects, in order, as he put it in 1949, to "maintain my amateur status." However, he did accept the Institute's Gold Medal, and in the concluding program in this series, Bruce Radde presents a rare recording of Wright's acceptance speech on that occasion as well as excerpts from a talk on "The Destruction of the Box" which Wright gave before the Taliesin Fellowship in 1951.
